This dryer heating element is rated at 240v and 5400 watt. It will replace many older & new styles. It fits models from Maytag, Whirlpool, Kenmore, Sears Estate, Roper, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, and many other electric dryers. if you suspect this is the cause of your dryer not working you will have zero heat, everything else about the dryer will seem to be working fine, but the items inside the dryer will not dry at all, when doing this appliance repair on the dryer always unplug the unit as you would with any appliance repair, the way to access this dryer heater you will need a one quarter inch nut driver, either a bit on a drill or a handheld will work, but there are a lot if screws in the dryer repair we at Appliance USA recommend a drill, remove the  unit from the wall, access the back of of the unit and remove the back panel of the unit there are screws all around the back of the unit and one also under the three leads to the electrical plug to the dryer in the center of the panel, be very careful removing the panel on the dryer as it is very sharp, we at Appliance USA recommend you use gloves to do this. Once the panel is removed rom the unit and the back of the dryer is open, you can now access the dryer heater 279838 itself, remove the wires that are connected by flange aka spade connectors, then there are two more one and a quarter inch screws in the heater, once these are removed you can remove the heater itself. After you remove the heater you will want to remove the thermostat off the bad heater and then put that thermostat on the new heater, after you do so, reattach the wires and put the unit back together and plug it in. Start the unit before you attach the vent and put it back inn place to make sure everything is operating at 100%...
